Specimen Requirements

The volume of the sample has considerable bearing on diagnostic accuracy: the larger the sample, the
better the results. If several samples are obtained, the second or the third should be used for cytology.

Specimen must be submitted promptly to the pathology department and must be accompanied by a completely filled out cytology form. Forms are available in the Pathology Department and the Laboratory.
