Specimen Container and Requirements:

Bronchial brushings and bile duct brushings will be collected by placing the brush in a specimen container of cytolyt solution.

Many times slides on brushing specimens are made by the collecting physician. If this is done the brush with specimen should be gently rotated on the slide and it should then be immediately immersed in 95% alcohol or cytolyt solution.

Specimen(s) must be accompanied by a completely filled out cytology form. Forms are available in the Pathology Department and the Laboratory.
